This was a very memorable experiance, one of the best history lessons I have ever learned was being thrown in it. As a class that started out as strangers ended up like family. Watching lives change as the world view opens the eyes of many creating an appetite for knowledge and a desire to see more of the world with an open mind. I whish the best to all that fallow, just bring your walkin shoes!
I can honestly say that I never imagined I would have the opportunity to visit Europe. I am a historian and learning about history through books, research, videos, and lectures is nothing like being able to "touch" history. Standing in a room in Westminster Abbey that was built by William the Conqueror nearly a thousand years ago has a substantial impact compared to just hearing about it.
The trip to England and Scotland was amazing from beginning to end. Professors Sam Klein and Hyde Abbott are both extremely knowledgeable about the countries being visited, as well as, knowledgeable in their content, how to travel, and most importantly, how to make this Study Abroad an amazing experience. Walking out of Victoria Station, standing in front of Parliament, and having Big Ben chime at that same moment is something I will remember for all time. Without Horry-Georgetown Technical College and Professors Abbott and Klein, my dream of visiting Europe would never have become a reality.
This trip is one of the best learning experiences I've ever had. I learned more than I ever would have in a classroom and I made some lifetime friends in the process. This trip taught me how big the world is, yet so small at the time. It was a life-changing experience that I will always remember fondly.
Well as a senior in high school, I never expected to have such an amazing opportunity as to travel to England and Scotland. Professors Hyde Abbott and Sam Klein put everything into making this trip absolutely worth while. They give you a wide variety of opportunity to explore and experience new things while in England and Scotland. Also, to travel with them was amazing, some of my fondest memories were just sitting around with Abbott and Klein. It was so cool to see the things that we learned in class up close and in person. Now that I am at University of South Carolina, I've seen some of the study abroad opportunities that a big university offers and some of them do not even compare to the experience that Abbott and Klein provide for students. I am so glad and thankful that Abbott and Klein gave me this amazing opportunity to experience a new culture and truly change my perspective on travel, history, and life.
This trip changed my life forever. Since the trip I have traveled more than I ever have. I care more for history and I have opened my eyes to things that I can do in my life. I made some of the best friends ever and I have some funny, great, and exciting memories of my trip. It was my first train ride, first plane ride, and the first time I ever got shin splints!!! This made me realize how big the world is and how much I want to see the rest of it!
Getting to travel abroad with this group was the highlight of my college experience. The things that the professors set up for you and help you experience are some of the most exclusive and memorable things a person could witness in their lifetime, especially the private tour of Stonehenge at sunrise! The stories that I have make some of my friends a little jealous i'll admit. Getting to walk across the North Sea, touching the Stonehenge rocks, and touring around one of the most beautiful countries in the world is something that makes your life story that much more.... Awesome! I constantly find myself comparing life in England to life here. Like how people in the UK don't include ice in their beverages or how Americans are much louder than the Brits. The culture there makes you appreciate your own. The things that you'll get to do is so worth taking this trip. I've made lifelong friends and memories. This trip has given me an itch to travel and experience life in all kinds of cultures. Taking what you've learned during the first half of the semester and actually seeing it in person during the trip is the coolest thing in the world. If i could stay at tech forever, i'd definitely try to keep taking this class. It's definitely worth the adventure in itself.
This was a great experience with two really great professors. I went back in 2012 and still can remember almost every moment of it. They plan it with precision and fill almost every minute with fun and exciting events. I would go again if I could and would not change one thing I did on the trip. A trip that I will remember forever.
I would highly recommend this trip and course of study to every student. I was a member of the 2012 class. From a financial stand point it cannot be beaten. I looked at our trip itinerary and did some homework. There is no way that a person can go to the UK, see and do all the things that we did, and come close to the price of this trip. Plus, you get six credits that are fully transferable. I transferred to CCU after graduating from HGTC and had no problem transferring all of my credits. From a personal stand point, it is truly a life changing experience. Visiting and seeing the places and things that you will or already have studied takes it all to another level of learning and understanding. The person that starts this program in January will not be the same person that finishes this program in May. For Professors Klein and Abbott this program is really a labor of love. They go well beyond anyone’s expectations when planning and executing this program of study. If I were still a student at HGTC or even CCU (the credits are good there too) I would not hesitate to take this study abroad program again.
This program has undoubtedly been the best decision I've made in college so far. I was a bit hesitant at first, not knowing anyone who was going, but I've come out with an entirely new perspective of the world and a group of life long friends. From an economic standpoint, you will not find anything better. The price is definitely right for everything that you see and do, and you see and do ALOT! Educationally it is invaluable. This trip embodies the idea of bringing history to life. Every day is a brand new adventure. Klein and Abbott put so much time and effort into this program to make it safe, fun, and affordable and they do it perfectly. I wouldn't have changed a thing, except to make it longer! This will not be the end of my studies abroad.

What an experience this was!!! I just recently returned from the trip and can say that I had such a great time! Being able to have the opportunity to experience and see all of the places that you go on this trip, with two amazing professors and a group of your peers is something that many people will never have the chance to do. So I encourage you to go and apply, this experience is not something that you should miss out on!
